🚨 ONE IMPORTANT THING
U.S. Expands “Narco-Terror” War At Sea
The U.S. military carried out its sixth known attack on boats in the Caribbean Sea Thursday as part of the White House campaign against “narcoterrorists” they claim are responsible for smuggling drugs into the country.
Previous strikes since September have killed at least two dozen people aboard small vessels the administration claims were carrying drugs from Venezuela. At least two survivors from the most recent strike on a submarine are now in U.S. custody.
The news follows Trump’s confirmation Wednesday that he authorized the CIA to carry out covert, and potentially lethal, operations in Venezuela against its dictator Nicolás Maduro and his government, citing prison releases and drug trafficking as reasons for escalating U.S. action in the region.
“He has offered everything,” President Trump said from the White House Friday, regarding concessions from Maduro to avoid further escalation. “He doesn’t want to f*ck around with the United States.”
WHAT WE KNOW
The Department of Homeland Security says the U.S. Coast Guard has seized more than 100,000 pounds of cocaine in the Eastern Pacific Ocean since August as part of Operation Pacific Viper — a mission to intercept drugs before they reach U.S. shores.
Alongside the vessel strikes, these operations reflect the militarization of U.S. anti-drug policy.
The administration’s use of lethal force in international waters — without congressional authorization or public transparency — has triggered alarm among politicians and human rights groups. Venezuela’s government has accused Washington of murdering civilians on the boats and violating international law.
A bipartisan Senate group is pushing a vote on legislation that would bar the U.S. from engaging in hostilities in Venezuela without explicit congressional approval. Trump brushed aside concerns Friday, saying the attacks were on vessels transporting “massive amounts of drugs, just so you understand this was not an innocent group of people.”
HOLDING ON TO POWER
The U.S. has offered $50 million for information leading to Maduro’s arrest over “violating U.S. narcotics laws.” It comes as the White House debates whether to push for regime change in the South American country. A proposal floated by Venezuelan officials would have Maduro step down in three years and hand power to Vice President Delcy Rodríguez. However, she called the reports “fake.”
Meanwhile, opposition leader María Corina Machado, who recently won the Nobel Peace Prize, has called for greater U.S. support to stop Maduro’s “war” on Venezuela. Her party beat Maduro in last year’s presidential election, though he refused to give up power.
American has its largest military presence in the region since the 1980s, deploying 10,000 troops — mostly in Puerto Rico.
On Wednesday, Trump suggested land strikes could come next.
“We have a lot of drugs coming in from Venezuela, and a lot of the Venezuelan drugs coming in through the sea,” he said. “But we’re gonna stop them by land also.”
The CIA has a long — and messy — history in the region. During the Cold War, the U.S. attempted and engaged in coups, assassinations, and proxy wars in Cuba, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chile, and Nicaragua, among other countries. The interventions sometimes led to civil wars with hundreds of thousands of people killed, as well as decades of instability. Learn more from the Mo News Podcast ⬇️

🚨 ONE THING WE’RE WATCHING (NOT LITERALLY)
OpenAI Loosens Restrictions, Will Allow Erotica On ChatGPT For Verified Adults
Adult users of ChatGPT will soon experience relaxed restrictions that allow them to see more uncensored content, including erotica.
”In December...as part of our ‘treat adult users like adults’ principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote in an X post on Tuesday.
In the post, Altman explained that ChatGPT was initially made restrictive to protect users’ mental health, but he realized that the restrictions took away from some of the more enjoyable features of the app. He says they will roll out these features with age verification to ensure the erotica is only available to adults.
OpenAI isn’t the first artificial intelligence company to try to profit from sexualized content. It’s a big business that could lead more users to move from free versions of ChatGPT to paid models with greater access. Already, there are about 29 million active users of AI chatbots that are designed specifically for romantic or sexual interactions. That doesn’t even count people who also use regular chatbots in that way.
“This is going to backfire. Hard,” Billionaire businessman Mark Cuban wrote in an X post Tuesday. “No parent is going to trust that their kids can’t get through your age gating.”
HOW WE GOT HERE
In August, OpenAI introduced its latest model, GPT-5, which the company billed as “the frontier on safety.”
The changes rewired the chatbot to give the most helpful answers within established safety boundaries, rather than simply refusing to engage with a prompt that may have solicited an unsafe response.
The changes came amid concerns that ChatGPT was giving people dangerous advice.
CONCERNS OVER KIDS
Altman addressed concerns about introducing erotica to ChatGPT in a follow-up post on Wednesday. He said the company and its newest technology will “prioritize safety over privacy and freedom for teenagers” and minors. In September, OpenAI introduced parental controls for ChatGPT and the company’s video-generation app, Sora 2.
Altman says OpenAI has been able to “mitigate the serious mental health issues” in its model and is now ready to “safely relax restrictions,” comparing the change to movie ratings: “In the same way that society differentiates other appropriate boundaries (R-rated movies, for example) we want to do a similar thing here.”
State of play: Lawmakers have pushed bills banning AI chatbots for minors. Some chatbots, like those on X and Meta, have come under fire for creating AI-generated porn. Instagram announced Tuesday that it will use AI to instead filter teen accounts, so that users only see content similar to what would appear in a “PG-13” movie.
Altman defended his company’s dedication to treating adults like adults: “We are not the elected moral police of the world.”

ICYMI FROM THE 📲
In case you missed it…Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli visited and performed one of his most famous songs, “Time To Say Goodbye,” for President Trump in the Oval Office Friday. The song is played regularly at Trump campaign events and at his clubs.
Bocelli visited Trump just ahead of a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Bocelli’s foundation raised money to supply medical aid for those displaced in Ukraine during the beginning of the war.
Up next: Trump said Bocelli will return to the White Hour for an official performance in December.
